Acceptable Use Policy

1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy (the "AUP") sets out the rules for using the WCAGC platform (the "Service") operated by WCAGC. It forms part of the Terms of Service, which identifies the operator. Capitalized terms have the meanings given there. Users must be at least 18. If you use the Service through an organization's account, the organization is responsible for its Users' compliance with this AUP.
2. Scanning Rules — the Core of This Policy
The Service operates a web crawler and scanner on your instruction. Because these tools access third-party infrastructure (web servers) on your behalf, the following rules are essential:
2.1. Scan only sites you own or are authorized to test. You may submit a website for scanning only if you own it or have the site owner's express permission to have it tested. Domain verification in the Service establishes control, but it does not replace your obligation to hold actual authorization.
2.2. No use of the Service for reconnaissance or attacks. You must not use the Service to probe, map, stress-test, or gather information about websites or systems you are not authorized to test, or as part of any attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system.
2.3. No circumvention of crawler safeguards. You must not attempt to make the crawler ignore robots.txt, bypass rate limits, access non-public areas of a site, or disguise the origin of scanning traffic.
2.4. Public Scan. The free account-less scan is provided for legitimate, occasional evaluation of single pages. Automating, scripting, or bulk-driving the Public Scan, or circumventing its rate limits (including by rotating IP addresses), is prohibited.
2.5. No private or sensitive targets without agreement. You must not submit credentials, attempt to scan authenticated or non-public areas, or use the Service to process content predominantly containing special-category or criminal-offence data unless we have expressly agreed in writing to the required safeguards.
3. Prohibited Activities
When using the Service, you must not:
3.1. Break the law. Use the Service in violation of any applicable law or regulation, or instruct any processing for which you lack a legal basis.
3.2. Compromise security. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its infrastructure, or other customers' data; probe or scan the Service itself for vulnerabilities without our prior written consent; introduce malware; or interfere with service operations, including by imposing an unreasonable load.
3.3. Abuse access. Share individual User credentials between several people; sell, rent, or sublicense access to the Service; or use the Service to provide a competing scanning service to third parties without a separate written agreement with us.
3.4. Misuse output. Present Scan Results, badges, or generated accessibility statements in a misleading way — for example, as a certification of legal compliance issued by WCAGC (see Section 5 of the Terms of Service), or alter generated statements so as to misattribute them.
3.5. Infringe rights. Use the Service in a way that infringes intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality, database, or other rights of third parties, or unlawfully collect personal data from scanned pages.
3.6. Impersonate. Misrepresent your identity or affiliation, or register accounts with false information.
3.7. Reverse engineer. Decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer the Service except to the extent permitted by mandatory law, or scrape the Service's interface by automated means outside its documented features.
4. Fair Use of Resources
Plan limits (number of sites, scans, pages crawled) are enforced by the Service. Independently of those limits, we may throttle, reject, or queue workloads that threaten security, violate this AUP, or materially degrade the Service for others.
5. Enforcement
5.1. Investigation. We may investigate suspected violations of this AUP and review related account activity and logs for that purpose, consistent with the Privacy Policy.
5.2. Proportionate response. Depending on severity, recurrence, urgency, and risk, we may issue a warning; reject or block a target; throttle use; preserve relevant evidence; suspend features or the Account; or terminate the Agreement under Section 15 of the Terms. We may act immediately and without prior notice where reasonably necessary to protect the Service, customers, third parties, or comply with law.
5.3. Review. If you believe an enforcement action was taken in error, contact hello@wcagc.com with relevant evidence. We may review the action, but this does not require us to restore access while a material security or legal risk remains.
5.4. Cooperation with authorities. We may report activity that we reasonably believe to be unlawful, and provide related information, to competent authorities where required or permitted by law.
6. Reporting Violations
To report abuse of the Service — including a suspicion that your website was scanned without authorization — email hello@wcagc.com with the relevant URLs, timestamps, and evidence available to you. We prioritize credible reports of unauthorized scanning but do not promise a fixed response time.
7. Changes
We may update this AUP as the Service evolves. Material changes will be notified where required by law or the Terms. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance, without limiting mandatory consumer rights.
